For the past four years, the SALON TODAY team has been excited to call the lucky winner of the SALON TODAY Total Salon Makeover competition, giving them the good news that they are about to receive $30,000 worth of prizes to help them better their business, along with some wisdom from a few savvy industry people to help them overcome the hurdles in their way.

All recipients of that call have been shocked. Many have called us back later to make sure they heard us right. One even called back admitting she needed to check that we really were SALON TODAY and not a gag. But for all four of the past recipients, that call was the first step to growing their businesses to the next level.

The winners of the business makeover competition are chosen from applicants who answer some questions about their salon, submit current images of their salon space and write a brief essay on how the prize packages could help them grow their business to the next level.

“Our judges are very careful when selecting each year’s winner,” says Stacey Soble, editor of SALON TODAY. This competition isn’t about saving a failing business, but rather help a business that might be stuck in their growth and need some help getting to the next level. We want to select a salon that not only is ready to embrace the prize package that is offered, but that is committed to making the changes they need to make for that growth to happen.”

Past winners have included Bamboo Salon in Staten Island, New York, in 2014; Jon Kailey Salon in Wilmette, Illinois, in 2015; Hair Anatomy at the Fountains Inc. in Lake Worth, Florida, in 2016; and Mangos Salon in Ellensburg, Washington in 2017.

This year’s prize package includes: a complete salon management system including hardware and software from STX; $10,000 in new furniture from Minerva’s showroom; and complete haircare, styling and grooming retail collection, complimentary backbar products, an assortment of professional color, forming and lifting products and stylist education from Keune.

So, be prepared, the next lucky winner we may be calling is you.
