In preparation for the fall/winter red carpet season, Celebrity stylist and Matrix Artistic Educator Nathan Rosenkranz has identified these key trends he believes will suit many of the high-profile models and actresses who turn to him for pre-event primping.

The Urban French Twist:

Description: “Think of the Bohemian section of Paris, rather than a high-class arrondissement (district) the Urban French Twist is more casual and careless than its polished, uptown cousin.”

Try it: Rosenkranz created two versions of his twisted “twist” on actress and Bravo TV’s China Chow and supermodel Lindsey Wixson. To get the look, prep hair with Matrix Design Pulse Go Big Extra Strong Hold Mousse, then fashion the hair into a classic French twist, but allow the ends to remain unsecured, directing them downward for an irreverent effect.

Modern Marilyn:

Description: A modern blow dry set, directed away from the face that recalls the sexy Hollywood style of Marilyn Monroe. Rosenkranz’s version features a looser wave than the ‘40s and ‘50s version, but maintains all of the polish of the originals.

Try it: Rosenkranz recently tried this look on actress Stacy Keibler. To begin, prep damp hair with mousse and root lifter, then perform a blow dry set with a medium round brush, clipping each barrel curl in place after shaping. As the curls cool, mist with hairspray. After removing the clips, rake through the curls with Matrix Total Results Sleek Silk Wonder Smoothing Oil and separate and shape the curls and direct the hair up and away from the face.
