For her "wow" factor, Michelle stayed away from the typical black styling chair and opted instead for the Versailles chair in a deep eggplant color.

The salon's focal point is a custom designed multipurpose service bar that divides the hair styling and nail care areas while still maintaining an open feel that promotes conversation and interaction by everyone at the salon. The bar was built with large hidden cabinets keep all the styling tools out of sight until needed, allowing stylists to perform blow outs, hair color services or even manicures.

Swank Salon has always been Owner Michelle Longo's dream to build since she was only seventeen years old. After 30 years of being a stylist, she finally took the leap.

Finding a location in Freehold New Jersey that was formerly a salon, Longo envisioned the sleek, modern business that she wanted to call her own. The location is on busy Route 9, ensuring ample visibility for her business. Undaunted by the existing drab brown and green color scheme, she could envision the changes and special touches that would house her new exciting, sexy space.

"With help from my amazing family and friends, we built the salon from the ground up, molding every detail with my heart and my soul. After five months of hard work, we opened our doors to the public and invited in the community. Swank Salon quickly attracted patrons due to our name and our decor! It’s all in the name, meaning stylish and elegant!" says Longo.

Matte black stations and extra large heavy framed mirrors on the styling side and comfortably large pedicure lounge chair in black vinyl on the nail care side provide a balanced contrast. For her "wow" factor, Longo stayed away from the typical black styling chair and opted instead for the Versailles chair in a deep eggplant color.

The bar was built with large hidden cabinets keep all the styling tools out of sight until needed, allowing stylists to perform blow outs, hair color services or even manicures.

Longo says the best thing about working with her designer Louis Benevento is that he was always calling with ideas and if something was over my budget, he found ways to bring it under budget without sacrificing any of the style or quality. "I wanted that sexy, modern feel to the salon and I think it all came together perfectly", says Longo.

"I found a staff that truly became family overnight," says Longo. "Our clients are not just coming for beauty services, but because they know that we're going to welcome them as friends and find their 'wow.' Working together, the staff will continue to build and succeed as a team. With our past knowledge and our commitment to continuing education, we are excited for what the future has to hold."

"The salon carries extraordinary product lines," Longo continues. "For our coloring line we use Goldwell Color. This allows us to give our clients the best hair possible and allows the staff to continue their creativity. For aftercare, we carry and recommend Goldwell, Ecru New York, KMS, and the Original Brazilian Blowout. Our stylists are highly educated in each of these lines, including their coloring, cutting and styling for each.

"We strive to continue our success and look forward to the future!" says Longo.
