Portland, Oregon's long standing philanthropic Urbaca Salon hosted nine young ladies aged 7-18 from Sparks of Hope for a fun afternoon of beautification and self-esteem building. Sparks of Hope (sparksofhope.org) is a not-for-profit that strives to "empower children who are survivors of abuse to thrive by providing special services to encourage hope, and by creating opportunities that will develop trust and healing so they can achieve lifelong success."

The nine ladies enjoyed a morning of donated horseback riding and a limo ride to Urbaca where they were greeted with sparkling cider and snacks before receiving age-appropriate makeup, a shampoo service and blowdry styling. After their beauty treatments the girls walked a "red carpet" complete with paparazzi. Of course, no celebrity event would be complete without complimentary KMS California and Okamura Farmacopia swag gift bags!
For over ten years Urbaca's philanthropic focus has been on children, primarily education by supporting numerous local school fundraising efforts, providing in-hospital services to parents and families at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and providing complimentary hair cuts for Locks of Love donations.
Child abuse, particularly physical and sexual abuse, affects over 20% all children. "We are honored and grateful to work with such a worthwhile cause," says salon owner Daria Daniel.
