6 Ways to Infuse Pink Into Your BusinessIn an industry that caters to women, it’s natural for beauty professionals to align themselves with the October mission of breast cancer fund-raising and education. And, there are a variety of activities a salon and spa can do to help patients, honor survivors and raise money and awareness. Consider this:

Launch a Campaign:
Partner with your local hospital or mammography center to develop an educational campaign to encourage women to get their mammograms. Some cities have mobile mammography units – offer to host one in your parking lot or simply give out printed information to your clients during the month of October.

Infuse Pink into Your Menu:
Women like to ‘wear’ their support—find some creative ways to help them do it. Develop a special menu of ‘pink’ services, from a special mani-pedi to pink hair extensions or pink hair chalking. Market it through your website, Facebook page and in-salon signage and offer to donate $5 from each service to a breast cancer charity.

Lend Your Talents: The Look Good Feel Better program is dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life for people undergoing cancer treatment through complimentary group and one-on-one beauty sessions. Identify staff members who’d be willing to donate 3-5 hours of their time each month, and sponsor their training in the programs 4-hour certification course. Host Local Survivors and Caregivers:
Sometimes patients and the caregivers who love them need a mental health day away from focusing on their battle against cancer. Identify patients within your community or clientele and host a day of pampering for them and a friend. Partner with local business to expand your offerings.

Raise Some Funds:
Find out what breast cancer fund-raising activities are available in your area and involve your staff and your clients in some money-raising fun. For example, organize a team of walkers for a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure or host a tent at an activity and conduct some express services.

Retail for a Cause: There are a number of professional beauty manufacturers who develop special pink products and tools. Talk to your local salesperson and check out your options, then add some pink into your retail shelves.
