Traditionally there has been two ways to offer gift certificates. The cheapest way is to use a blank certificate book where your receptionist fills in the blanks—inexpensive, easy but doesn’t offer the most marketing appeal. They don't make the most appealing gifts. Or you could have gone the other route and printed certificates or commissioned electronic cards with your salon’s logo, but that can prove pricey. Now, there’s another gift card option—electronic.

Oveeta Software now offers eGift, a service that allows a salon’s clients to go online to select a desired card for any occasion, enter in a monetary amount or select a service, and pay. The eGift is automatically sent to the recipient’s e-mail address. A copy also is sent to the salon owner. The gift recipient simply prints out the eGift and brings it in to the salon for services.

“Now, a man on business trip in New York City can buy a Mother’s Day gift for his mom in Portland, an anniversary gift for his wife in Seattle, and a birthday gift for his sister in Los Angeles within minutes,” says Mai Bui, director of business development. “Our eGift program offers many designs for occasions, such as love, holidays, anniversaries and birthdays that make the process of giving a gift easier and more fun.”
