Marketing is a salon’s way of telling its story in order to attract new clients and encourage existing ones to try different services from the menu. The ways salons leverage marketing to tell those stories is expanding every year, as owners sample newer vehicles like community videos, influencer programs and social media, along with more traditional methods.

Here is the winner of the best Social Campaign in SALON TODAY's STAMP competition.

#RedBloomEssentials
RedBloom Salon
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Owners: Troy Winget and Jodi Ohama

Every Friday, the team at RedBloom posts a picture with the #redbloomessentials hashtag, showcasing some of their favorite products or tools with a picture or Boomerang, frequently highlighting a seasonal product or promotion.

“Recently we started doing themed posts in partnership with a local business with an added giveaway—our team gathers the items, takes the images and we usually put $2-5 behind boosting the post,” Troy Winget says. “When we do a joint post, our marketing manager usually supports it with a blog to draw people to our websites and link the two businesses.

“Our most successful was a partnership with a Barre Belle that opened near one of our locations. They gave away a one-month pass and toesox and we gave away a set of invisabobbles, dry shampoo, hairspray and a gift card for a cut and highlights. We had 660 entries and gained almost 300 new followers.”
