The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation appointed three of the professional beauty industry’s leaders and visionaries to its board of directors.
The newly appointed directors are Winn Claybaugh, founder and co-owner of Paul Mitchell’s school division; Dennis Ratner, CEO of Ratner Companies; and Jen Planck, master stylist, platform artist, and motivational speaker.
Lynelle Lynch, president of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation said the new directors add to the foundation’s expertise in important categories of the professional beauty industry, including education, franchising, and philanthropy.
Claybaugh is a published author, motivational speaker, and founder and co-owner of Paul Mitchell’s school division. Winn has spoken at every major beauty event and served as the Paul Mitchell National Motivational Expert. The North American Hairstyling Awards named Winn to its Hall of Leaders and behindthechair.com awarded him the Hairdressers Unlocking Hope award, recognizing his philanthropic contributions to the industry. In 2016, American Salon named Winn one of the top five “Industry Leaders Who Helped Revolutionize Education." In 2017, Winn was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, an honor presented to American citizens who have distinguished themselves within their own ethnic groups while exemplifying the values of the American way of life.
Planck is a master stylist, speaker, and innovator. A passionate advocate for mentoring, Plank’s message of paying a hairdresser’s success forward to help the next generation has inspired countless hairstylists over the last 25 years. Throughout her career, Plank has climbed almost every rung on the ladder of success, moving from stylist to artistic director, platform artist, and salon owner. Her stature as an industry leader has helped advance her central message that we are all equal and the more we help one another, the more we receive in return.
Ratner is founder and CEO of Ratner Companies, the largest privately-owned chain of hair salons in the U.S. Beginning his career as a hairstylist and salon owner, at age 19, Dennis and his former wife, Ann, created the concept for a value-priced family salon, opening the first Hair Cuttery in 1974. Over the past four decades, Ratner Companies has grown to nearly 1,000 salons employing 12,000 individuals. The company’s salon holdings encompass both value and upscale brands, including Hair Cuttery, BUBBLES, Salon Cielo and Spa, and the Salon Plaza booth rental concept. The Ratner Group also created and serves as the exclusive distributor of the Cibu professional product line.
