Spa Industry Proves Buying Local is Still Trendy

Buying local remains popular among communities, and spas showed just how popular it is by using local ingredients with the spa industry. At the recent International SPA Association (ISPA) Media Event, nearly 150 journalists visited Gotham Hall to hear from the organization representing more than 4,000 members in 77 countries.

A sampling of ISPA members were present at the event and offered spa treatments to the media. 

  • Beau Rivage Resort & Casino offered Hanakasumi. Inspired by Japanese tradition, this treatment revives energy using reflexology.
  • colorescience offered makeovers with a celebrity makeup artist and helped address skincare concerns and needs while using colorescience products.
  • Cranwell Resort, Spa & Golf Club offered BABOR hand and face treatments, using BABOR products to boost the skin’s moisture and nutrient levels.
  • Eau Spa at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa offered HydrEAUfacials, a facial using HydraFacial MD technology to extract and remove impurities and dead skin cells.   
  • Grand Velas Resorts offered the Bacal and Grand Cora Massages, utilizing Mayan corn and honey and applied with a corn cob for an exfoliating and detoxifying treatment.  
  • Jindilli offered a BoomaGlam Massage, which used a boomerang and Macademia Oil, honoring the company’s Australian heritage.
  • The Lodge at Woodloch offered an Herbal Infused Honey Treatment, using honey, sugar and seasonal healing herbs for a thorough exfoliation.
  • Massage Envy Spa offered a Healthy Skin Vitamin C Infusion Mini Facial, using Murad products formulated with pure Vitamin C to repair and prevent free radical damage.
  • The Mayflower Grace Spa offered a Biochemical Constitutional Consultation, with a wellness therapist recommending biochemical elements to best support the individual’s body.
  • Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program offered a Postural Analysis, explaining the ways to achieve and maintain optimal alignment for improved posture.
  • Miraval Resort & Spa offered a Healthy Sleep Consultation, where Miraval’s sleep specialist met with individuals and discussed how to improve sleep habits and patterns.
  • Mirbeau Inn & Spa offered Monet’s Favorite Fragrance Massage, an aromatherapy massage to address physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
  • Omni Hotels & Resorts offered a Restorative Native Foot Treatment, a steaming aromatic herbal treatment to penetrate into tired soles to relieve muscle tension.
  • Travaasa Experiential Resorts demonstrated Herbal Tinctures for Healing, with Travaasa’s Farm Manager explaining how to make infusions using ingredients from the resort’s farm.

Mini treatments were also offered by Clarins Spa, essie, the Indigo Spa at Hilton Head Health and Salamander Hotels & Resorts.

Media were able to pre-book treatments through the appointment software ResortSuite. Through a partnership with FEED, every attendee received a FEED tote bag. The proceeds from these bags go to feeding a total of 20,000 hungry children through the World Food Programme. The bags are sponsored by Spa Week Media Group, Ltd.
