MORE FROM THE SALON OWNERS:
1. List your three favorite features of your salon/spa design and explain why.
"The front desk is one of our favorite features. The etched glass design really stands out, displaying our logo. The bar based concept allows our staff to pass through easily and interact with clients more than a traditional salon. The color area allows our stylists to mix in front of the clients. The color formulation being done in front of the guest has really peaked the interest of our more curious clients who always wonder what goes on in a color room."
2. What was the biggest challenge about this salon or spa design, and how did you overcome it?
"The biggest challenge we faced was creating a design that would give us the functionality to provide the volume of services our membership concept demanded without sacrificing the experience of the guests. We chose to offer a bar style concept where the staff can provide services to the clients in a open spaced atmosphere."
3. Who is your target market and how did you design this salon to attract that market?
"Our target market is the 25-60 year old client looking to maintain their style and not break their bank. The high volume, membership based concept of our salon demanded an area that could receive many guests throughout the day with flawless flow. We designed the salon in areas based on the guests services. The main bar is where guests are cut or styled, the color area is for application and processing, and our separated wet bar area is where clients are washed. Each piece of this design was created to make guests feel like they were not crowded or rushed."
4. Which specific elements of your salon design were planned to enhance productivity and profitability?
"We chose to use a bar concept so our staff could move through the salon fluidly interacting with guests while they are receiving services in the different areas of the salon."
