Penzone is the chairman and founder of The Charles Penzone Salons, an Ohio-based salon and spa group established in 1969. Penzone also owns and operates a product distribution company that provides professional salon products to salons in five states, a consulting company and a real estate management company. The Charles Penzone name has become synonymous with award-winning excellence. Some of those awards include:

Penzone is actively involved in several national and international salon groups. He is a former member of The Salon Association (TSA), a member and past vice president of Intercoiffure America-Canada and former board member and officer of the International SalonSpa Business Network. He was named one of the Top Twenty Salon Owners in the United States by Modern Salon magazine as well as one of the Most Intriguing Salon Owners by Salon Today magazine. He has been appointed by two Ohio Governors to three five- year terms as a Commissioner of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology and served as chairman of the board from 1999-2002.

Penzone  He has been the focus of television features by the U.S. governments broadcasted in over 80 countries. Penzone was named Master Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in 1999 and was a finalist for the Chamber of Commerce “Small Business Person of the Year” that same year. In 2007, Penzone was inducted into the Central Ohio Business Hall of Fame, an honor given to those who show “a history of achievement, courageous thinking and actions, vision and innovation and inspiring leadership and community mindedness.” In 2008, Penzone was presented with the Global Salon Business Award for Entrepreneur of the Year from the B.E.S.T. foundation and UCLA’s Anderson School of Business. In 2010, Charles Penzone was named a finalist for the prestigious NAHA Salon MBA Award and in 2011; Penzone received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Salon/Spa Business Network.

Penzone is heavily vested in the Columbus community with his involvement in the Entrepreneurial Leaders Society at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. He has served on the boards of Recreation Unlimited, a North Central Ohio summer camp, day camp and retreat for the mentally and physically challenged. He has also served on the boards of the Marburn Academy, Columbus Ballet Metropolitan and the Columbus Academy.

 In addition to serving on several Penzone, Charles and his wife, Debra, co-chaired the 2007 Cattle Barons Ball for the American Cancer Society and CAPA’s 80th Anniversary for the Ohio Theater in 2008. In 2007, with the leadership of Charles and Debra, The Charles Penzone Salons raised $85,000 for Hairdressers Unlocking Hope, a non-profit organization developed to re-build homes (through Habitat for Humanity) in New Orleans destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
