"If I can sum it up in three words, "Less is More!" says Tami Bernard, of Tami Bernard Makeup. "Today's brides want to have that classic natural look that they will enjoy seeing in their pictures for the next 50+ years and still love. They will never question, 'Why did I do that?' Because their look will always be soft and natural.

Tami Bernard and her glam squad of traveling makeup artists and hair stylists travel up and down the state of California helping brides and their bridal parties prepare for the big day.

Here, she breaks down the bridal makeup and hair trends for 2023.

2023 Bridal Makeup Trends

"This season you are going to see real, flawless skin. Brides are taking great care of their skin way before the big day to help achieve that makeup/no makeup look," she says. "As a bridal makeup artist, my main goal is to perfect the skin. If it is flawless, then everything else will fall into place."

"Make no mistake, if a bride has the right makeup artists, this will look effortless, but the artist will be working even harder to achieve this look," Bernard adds. " It doesn't mean less makeup, but it's more about the product the artist selects, the technique used, and how well it is worked into the bride's skin."

When it comes to the eyes, Bernard says they are soft and dreamy this season. "Neutral browns, bronzes, golds, coppers and rose golds are all the rage," she says. "Brides will be leaving lash extenions behind. Lashes will be smaller and more natural this year, but certainly not forgotten. Lashes are a must! Eyeliner will be softer, complementing the bride's natural eye shape.

According to Bernard, the brows will be filled in and brushed up. Again, soft and natural.

"Contour will be the biggest change this year!," she says. "There will be some contour to add depth and dimension, but we wil not see the social media 'shapeshift' contour look that changes the structure of the face. Grrooms love their brides for themselves, not a different version of themselves."

Blush is a must, and there is nothing better than a beautiful peach blush to make the cheeks pop, says Bernard. "I don't see the trend of having a first look with the fiance, dads or even the wedding party going away any time soon, so you need to make sure you have enough blush and lips on for the camera. The camera usually loses 30% of your maku,p so your blush is important."

Highlighter is also here to stay, says Bernard, and who doesn't love that pop of highlighter on top of the cheek and under the brow to give a glow and youthful look?

Last, but not certainly least, are the lips. "This season we are seeing a soft bronze, or peach nude, lip with a layer of gloss," says Bernard. "Gloss is going to be big this year."

2023 Bridal Hair Trends

Effortless looking bridal hair will compliment the no-makeup trend this year. According to Bernard, the biggest style of the year is the effortless ponytail with face-framing piece or without. "We'll also see soft, low buns with face framing and lots of texture, as well as the 1/2 up 1/2 down with chunky braids and twists with hair pieces or flowers to finish the look. Last but not leastm with extra extension, the long chunky braid," says Bernard.

All are beautiful and romantic styles theat compliment the makeup style and create more of a classic look rather than a trend.
