When it came to designing the Sofia Elaine Salon in Westlake, Texas, Owner Erica Lynch says it was a concept that really evolved over time.
"I knew I wanted clean lines and a simple palette with a splash of color that was more classic than trendy," she says. "I've always liked navy and gold tones, so it seemed like a great choice for a salon color palette."
The salon's clientele helped with design ideas throughout the process. "I wanted to honor my Cuban roots with some old family photos, but wasn’t sure how to do that," says Lynch. "Thankfully, one of my creative customers gave this idea some definition by displaying old photo collages with a modern twist, again in a very simple yet classic way."
As Lynch and her team were evolving design ideas, Lynch was bouncing around ideas for the salon's name. "One day it came to me," she says. "I have two sons and this would be my 'girl.' Then the answer was obvious--I combined my mom's middle name and my middle name and Sofia Elaine was born."A
