Students from cosmetology and barbering schools often look to Sport Clips Haircuts as a great career opportunity when they graduate. To honor these future professionals, Sport Clips holds an annual competition for students to get creative and showcase their knowledge of men's haircutting.
This year's winners are Nancy Gonzalez, Ogle School in Arlington, Texas; Giselle Gayton, Empire School in Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Jessica Leyva, PCI School in Ames, Iowa.
"These students already have impressive creative and technical skills and Sport Clips uses this competition as a way to recognize their hard work and talent," says Mary Burlingame, future professional talent specialist for Sport Clips. "This is one of the most exciting times for stylists and professionals in our industry with so many opportunities available when they graduate and prepare to launch their careers. Of course, we want them to consider Sport Clips as the place their career can grow and flourish with on-going training and prospects for growth in a locally owned store or with the company nationally."
Burlingame says the contest, formerly known as "The Look: Student Edition," now has a new name of "Battle of the Hair: Student Edition" to better reflect the good-natured competition true to a sports-themed haircare franchise such as Sport Clips.
To enter, students must have been enrolled in a cosmetology or barbering school between the dates of February 8 and April 23, 2021. They each selected a male model, created an original hairstyle, and submitted before and after images that were judged by a panel of haircare experts.
