Hairstylist Appreciation Day is April 30th this year, and more than ever, owners are appreciating their team members as they start ramping up their businesses again after a challenging year in 2020. SALON TODAY asked salons to share their plans for honoring their hard-working staff this year:
“Since our staff meeting is coming up, I will be presenting each stylist with a little appreciation care package, which will include a succulent, an oil diffuser bracelet, and an essential oil, as well as a handwritten note of appreciation from myself. We will print out all of each stylist’s positive reviews from the last year and include them in their box as well. I felt as though a little self care and some stress relieving strategies were the way to go this year as we have all been through so much. And above all, it is imperative that they know how much I appreciate them and be reminded of the wonderful comments from their guests.”—Sarah Taylor, owner of Impressions Salon in Mequon, WI
“We love our team of stylists and we’d like to think we celebrate our team all year round with team-building events and outings, but for this April 30th, one team member came up with the idea of a costume party where we dress up as each other (in a flattering way) to celebrate the individuals that make the team.”—Gareth Broad, Noggins Salon in Ridgeland, MS
“We love to celebrate our stylists with free lunch, chocolates, flowers and coffee.”—Vivian Yeh, owner of Josephine’s Day Spa and Salon in Houston, TX
“The Headlines team is excited to be back together after three shutdowns here in California. We decided to honor our team for Hairstylist Appreciation Day by hosting a Fashion Show and Fundraiser. We knew is was the perfect time to get the team involved in something positive after this crazy year. One of our values is giving back to the community, so our proceeds are going to our favorite charity, CHILDHELP, who helps kids in abused situation.”—Gayle Fulbright, owner of Headlines The Salon, Encinitas, CA
“We posted a photo of our team on our Instagram Story for our clients to screenshot and post to their own Instagram accounts to share the love for our team members. When they tag the salon and their stylist, we are able to repost it. And, we’ll be bringing in pizza for our monthly meetings at both locations.”—Chelle Neff, owner of Urban Betty in Austin, TX
