Shin An and her architect and designer Suhail built her Santa Monica salon, SHIN, as the realization of a long-time shared dream to partner on a project.  The salon, a runner-up for SALON TODAY 200 Salon of the Year in 2011, represents  their joint vision of  a space that combines form with function and serious beauty with a sea-side retreat sensibility.

Art in the 1,200-square-foot salon pays homage to Shin’s Korean heritage and the hanging lights at the reception area, different shapes of dome shades, allude to the conical straw hats worn in the fields of Asia.   These subtle nods to her culture keep this urbane space grounded and organic.
