The Intercoiffure Spring Atelier, to be held this weekend in Boca Raton, Florida, promises to be one of the most exciting and inspirational of all. The highlights include presentations by David Wagner, Shirley Gordon and The Doves (sponsored by Wella), the TIGI Artistic Team, the ICA Cutting Council (sponsored by Hairdreams), a hands-on Color Workshop led by Belinda Gambuzza, Perry Monge with the ICA Nouveau Team, Reg Laws, Bart Foreman and Make Up Magic by Lori Neopolitano. MODERN's Publisher Steve Reiss will present on "The State of the Industry" offering an overview of trends in the professional salon and spa worlds and will share how technology is changing how salons go to market. He will also touch upon how the expectations of a generation has changed after our most recent "great recession".
Vivienne MacKinder Members are most eager to see the New Wave collection presented by Vivienne MacKinder, Intercoiffure Fashion Director. The collection features seven variations on the model's long fine hair which MacKinder calls "a controlled exposion of texturized hair. The different shapes and textures make the model's hair come alive." For the finale, MacKinder will introduce the "Moody Blue" collection which she has been working on for the last month. "This collection is inspired by the extraordinary fashion designer Katya Leonovich," she says.
MacKinder is dedicating the 2014 Spring Trend to Lois Christie, salon owner and President of Intercoiffure America/Canada.
"When Lois assumed the presidency of Intercoiffure America/Canada, she had twin missions: To reinvent the association as a relevant, influential industry force and to give other successful women a place at the table of power,” notes Mackinder. “The powerful feminine is a constant theme in my own work, and I immediately connected with what Lois was working to achieve. ‘New Wave’ is about the creative process, but like all my work, it also celebrates feminine strength.”
As President, Christie has exercised her own strength, celebrating innovation and growing opportunities for ICA members. She launched ICA's Hair Color Council and Artistic Team and revitalized ICA Nouveau with key appointments and support. Celebrity hairdressers, including Oribe, Ted Gibson, Nicholas French and other top artists have participated in Intercoiffure activities as a result of Christie's outreach program. She helped to initiate a collaborative competition for cosmetology students, the Rising Star Awards, with Beauty Systems Group and Vivienne MacKinder, and has organized several charitable fundraisers, including support for Habitat for Humanity, Haiti Earthquake Relief, City of Hope and Sandy Storm Relief.
The two day Atelier (which means workshop) is open to the 225 Intercoiffure members from the United States and Canada and is by invitation only. Sponsors for this spring session include Suretint, Spornette, Group3Marketing, BMAC Scissor, Keratin Complex, Artego, Hairdreams, TIGI, EasihairPro, Salon Tech, Wella, Kerastase and Groh.
