OPI Launches Non-Chip GelColor

OPI has announced the launch of GelColor, a professional treatment featuring full-gel lacquers for manicures and pedicures that last two to three weeks. GelColor is easily applied like traditional nail lacquer and flash LED UV-cured in a total of four minutes (almost four times faster than standard gels). The line will include 28 of OPI's most popular hues—along with base and top coats—to produce glossy, smooth, chip-free color.

“We are very excited to present this groundbreaking treatment,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Now, women can get long-lasting gel manicures in the same time as a traditional manicure service, without waiting for nails to dry – wearing their favorite OPI color on nails and toes for weeks at a time, without chipping. Plus, the formula is incredible, offering our shiniest finish to date.”

GelColor is LED UV-cured for 30 seconds per coat. Because of the photo initiators in the GelColor formula, the product cures at a faster wavelength. Natural nails are first painted with GelColor Base Coat, then two coats of GelColor and finished with GelColor Top Coat. Application takes four minutes per set hands/feet (not including normal nail prep) and can be easily removed in 15 minutes with individual fingertip soak-off sleeves, without nail or cuticle damage.

GelColor will be available in shades including: Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow, Big Apple Red, Passion, Lincoln Park After Dark, Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not, Russian Navy, I’m Not Really a Waitress and You Don’t Know Jacques!

Additional colors will be released throughout the year and added to this initial launch. The service will be available beginning November 2011 at select ULTA locations and select professional salons, with full national distribution beginning January 2012. opi.com.

If we can now buy thse gel polishes over the counter, how do we "dry" the polish? Don't we need a special machine tof "flash LED UV-cure" the polish?
