THE EVENT:

The 21st annual North American Hairstyling Awards held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

THE DETAILS: The Professional Beauty Association presented the NAHA awards on July 18 in conjunction with Beauty Week and Cosmoprof North America. The gala began with a red-carpet reception prior to the awards ceremony. Beacon students kicked off the ceremony with a "Flash Mob" dance, setting the tone for an evening filled with entertainment, talent, and celebrating the artistry and skill of the professional salon industry.

THE BUZZ: NAHA 2010 also welcomed former NAHA winners Vivienne Mackinder and Faatemah Ampey back to the stage to inspire attendees with special artistic presentations inspired by couture fashion and beauty. "All artists are happy to do what we do for the love of fashion and art," said Ampey of her presentation. "NAHA is the one place our hard work can be appreciated by our peers and the world. I am honored to be a part of this wonderfully sexy industry, and thrilled NAHA would consider my work sexy enough to entertain the icons of hair."

OVERHEARD: Editorial Hairstylist of the Year winner and nominee in multiple categories, Steve Elias said, "Editorial work is so near and dear to my heart-it was the award that meant the most to me. It's a wonderful validation of my team's hard work."

NEXT YEAR: NAHA 2011 will take place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on July 24, 2011. Visit probeauty.org for more information.
