As part of Salon Today’s annual Technology issue, we tap industry leaders for insight into how new systems are changing the ways in which the business of beauty is conducted. With more and more people depending on mobile devices in their personal and professional lives, we asked the pros how smart phones and tablets are shaping either salon/spa management or the client experience.

Nicole Morris on Mobile Devices in the Salon and Spa  “Smart phones and tablets are becoming the one stop shop for salon and spa owners, quickly replacing the stationary PC and creating more salon space as computers and check out areas give way to hand held check outs.  Less is more is a trend now, and these modified devices pack a portable punch of multi-tasking efficiency.  Owners do not have to be on site to manage daily operations or to send out announcements via email or social media. Smart phone and tablets can function as virtual personal assistants to owners and managers.  Clients can access salon information, book an appointment, purchase retail items and post their new styles on social media.
