SCENARIO: Your virgin-hair client is beginning to see more gray in her hair and wants to camouflage any signs of aging but is unsure about committing to anything that would be high-maintenance or require spending a lot of money on her color. You want to retain her business, without adding stress to her budget. What do you recommend? Candace Bossendorfer, Aloxxi Artistic Advisor explains.

"There are two ways you can go. First, you could weave in her natural shade with a permanent color, focusing on eliminating the gray hair as much as possible. By using a shade very close to her own, she doesn't have to even confess she is doing it if she prefers not too. This works for all shades of hair. The real key is to match the clients natural shade.

"The second option to offer the client a demi-permanent hair color. Demi-permanent color allows for gray blending and leaves a nice shine to the hair. If the demi-permanent color is close enough to the clients natural shade she can enjoy several weeks of masking the gray with little, if any, line of demarcation as her hair grows. In turn, this requires no long term commitment from the client. She is more empowered to choose when she would like to refresh the color, allowing her to comfortable fit it into her budget."
