The other day I heard about this uplifting story of a salon owner changing lives of unemployed women. Not only is it a great story about giving back, it has given these women who were loosing hope in the job market, new hope and motivation.
The salon owner who I mentioned is Marc Voci, owner of Marc Voci Salon and creator of the Style Me Hired Makeover Show. Last year Style Me Hired went to Philadelphia and had their first ever makeover/employment event at the Omni Hotel. That day 100 women received a free makeover. Ever since then, Voci and his salon have been giving away free makeovers to women in need. Voci's vision is to giveaway over 200 makeovers this year, and to bring happiness to those who are unemployed by changing one life one makeover at a time.
"I created Style Me Hired because I see what makeovers do for women, especially for women who can't afford one," says Voci. "Makeovers are like magic. I've been doing these makeovers for over 25 years, I've seen the impact it can have on women who are down on their luck."
Below are stories from some of the women who received free makeovers from the Style Me Hired Makeover show. See Betsy's AMAZING transformation in the video below.
DENISE'S STORY
"I had been laid off of my job and for the first time in 30 years I wasn’t working which was scary enough, but then I found out that I had breast cancer and had to get treated for that before I could even look for a new job.
I read an article in the Daily Times about the Style Me Hired Makeover Show and decided to apply for a makeover. When I heard I won the makeover I couldn’t believe it, but I was so grateful. They gave me an image consultation, cut and colored my hair, make-up and sent me to Career Wardrobe for a new professional outfit. It was such an uplifting experience! I felt like a new person! I felt like I could accomplish anything!
Today my cancer is gone! I started working shortly after my makeover. I like having a secure job and I also enjoy the people I work with. I just want to thank Marc for the opportunity to be a part of the Style Me Hired Makeover Show and for making me feel so special."

LYN'S STORY
"This is the first time I have been unemployed in my life. It’s been five months, I am finding it very difficult to find a job. I am a single mom with a five year old son to take care of. I heard about the Style Me Hired Makeover Show and applied online. I won and got a free makeover, hair cut, color and make-up.
