Chris Rock’s Good Hair documentary shed some light on just how serious African American women are about their hair, and how much they are willing to pay for it. According to the film, 30-34 percent of all hair care products sold in the United States are purchased by African American women, and the sales of the hair weave makes up 65 percent of all hair-care services. Many salons are responding to the emerging trend toward natural texture by becoming texture experts.
