We realized long ago that our younger employees typically don’t check their emails as often as they check their text messages. Our management team would send out a company-wide email about a new policy, an important event or a new product launch, and half the staff didn’t realize they had an email waiting because they never checked their inbox.

We wanted to find a way to get information in front of our team members in a way that they were used to communicating, but we knew it was too difficult to communicate more than a few lines of information in a text message. We were already using the Evernote and GroupMe in other ways within the company and we turned to these applications to help solve our communication dilemma.

Here’s what we do:

Step 1 – Create a note in Evernote and inside the note type up whatever information we need to communicate to the team.

Step 2 – Create a copy share URL link to the note, which in essence, turns the note into a web page on the internet.

Step 3 – Copy and paste the new URL link into the GroupMe app and share the link with our team members via text message.   When team members click on the link inside of their text message, the note is automatically pulled up on their phones or tablets via a web browser. It’s that simple.

Now, there’s no way employees can claim they weren’t informed when we’re placing information in the palm of their hands!
