Gerd Leonhard, Jenn Lim and Ben Parr are the featured speakers at the upcoming annual conference for the International SalonSpa Business Network.

Humanology, or the study of human nature, is the theme for the 2016 International SalonSpa Business Network  Annul Conference, which will be held May 22-24 at the beautiful Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

During the event, the senior executives of the top multi-unit salon and spa companies will examine how human behavior impacts every aspect of their businesses. Then using that information, they'll discover the perfect interplay between human behavior and technology that will motivate their teams to succeed and influence their guests to engage more closely with the salon.

“Our individual member companies are very diverse, but our mutual interests are powerful, which is what differentiates ISBN’s conference from any other,” explains Rhoda Olsen, ISBN president and CEO of Great Clips. “When we develop solutions to the challenges of the marketplace together, each of our individual businesses—as well as the professional beauty industry—becomes stronger, more successful and more human together.”

The conference agenda will feature thought-provoking keynotes, industry-leading panels, breakouts focused on key issues and workshops designed to build usable, real-world results. Attendees will learn about vendors’ newest products and programs. And most importantly, ISBN’s signature networking opportunities, including roundtables, special breakfast and lunch events, President’s Reception, Golf Tournament, Farewell Party and much more, will ensure that multi-unit salon and spa executives, sponsors and industry leaders will have ample time to discuss and unveil solutions to the industry’s—and their own companies’—biggest challenges.

The following speakers will deliver thought-provoking, informative and inspiring keynote addresses:

Gerd Leonhard will present The Future of Business: Embrace Technology but Celebrate Humanity!” As a futurist, author, think-tank leader and strategist, Leonhard focuses on near-future, “nowist” observations and actionable foresights in the sectors of humanity, society, business, media, technology and communications. He is the coauthor of the best-selling book The Future of Music and the author of four other books. He is also the host of the webTV series “TheFutureShow” and the CEO of TheFuturesAgency, a global network of more than 30 leading futurists. His diverse client list of more than 200 companies includes Unilever, Lloyds Bank, WWF, YouTube, Nokia, The Guardian, Google, Sony, Telkom Indonesia, Siemens, RTL, ITV, BBC, France Telecom, Orange, Deutsche Telekom, MTN, The Financial Times, DDB, Ogilvy, Omnicom, the European Commission, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, VISA, Volkswagen and many others.

Jenn Lim will share her keen insights for “Delivering Happiness.” She is the CEO and chief happiness officer of Delivering Happiness, a company she and Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos.com) co-founded to inspire science-based happiness, passion and purpose at work, home and everyday life. In her words: “A CHO is doing what any CEO does in an organization—putting the people/resources/financing in place to create a sustainable company. The difference between a CEO and a CHO is that a CHO is doing it through the lens of happiness as a business model.”

Along with her “fearless leader” CHO responsibilities, Lim manages a demanding speaking schedule that sends her around the world to deliver a message of passion, purpose, culture and happiness. Previously, she was a consultant at Zappos, where she created the “Zappos Culture Book,” a symbol of how companies can use happiness as a business model to increase productivity and profitability. She was a foundational part of the team at Zappos who proved that happier employees = happier customers = profitable/sustainable business (and most importantly, meaningful lives).  Today, she’s dedicated to growing DH to inspire happiness in people, communities and companies so that together, we can create a happier world.

Ben Parr will cap off this powerful trifecta with “Captivology: The Science of Capturing Consumers’ Hearts.” Ben is an award-winning journalist, entrepreneur, investor, keynote speaker and expert on growth and attention. He is a general partner at DominateFund, an early-stage venture capital firm, and the author of Captivology: The Science of Capturing People’s Attention, named the best marketing book of 2015 by Strategy+Business Magazine. He is a growth and marketing adviser to the world’s top brands, a columnist for Inc. Magazine and a contributor to CNBC. Previously, he was co-editor and editor-at-large of Mashable and a columnist for CNET. Parr was named one of the top 10 tech journalists in the world by Say Media, one of the top 10 Internet of Things experts by Inc. Magazine and one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30. He lives in San Francisco.
